Have a pony with an rusty manky tail? Rust removal can be achieved pretty easily. We all know the cause is water getting trapped inside the pony and rusting out the tail washer.

You will need the following:
PLIARS
RIT DYE FABRIC RUST REMOVER
A DISPOSABLE CUP
HOT WATER

As you can see this tail is nasty and frizzy to top it off. The washer is beyond rusted its comming apart its rusted so badly. First step is to remove it.

I use the pliars to pull out as much of the washer as I can. In this case sometimes its useful to run a comb through to help remove some of the small pieces

Now comes the fun part. You can pick up Rit Fabric Rust remover at most Craft stores. Fill your disposable cup with Hot water. I usualy just get the tap water as hot as I can fill your cup up just enough so that when you dip the rusted end of the tail in it will be totally submerged.
I usualy put in about 2 teaspoons of rust remover. Its not an exact science. Mix it up with a toothpick or somehting. This stuff has a toxic smell to it do this all in a well venilated area.
Now dip the rusty end of the tail in and let it soak about 20 mins.
Some stains take less time then others all depending on how bad they are.

After 20 minutes this is what it looks like.
Inspect it and see if it needs more time if not its time to rinse and condition your tail.
If you have more tails to do by all means use it on as many as you need before you dump it.
Dump out the water when your done and dispose of the cup.

If the store opens back up we may sell rust remover in it. So keep your eyes opened! Hope this tutorial helped you!!!
